Varanasi, India
Above the ghats of the Holy Ganges River, these 'untouchables' await a few coins or piza. They are dependent on the Upper Caste's karmic cleanse. First they bathe in the holy river, then exchange a few rupees for coins to give to the Dalit. You can hear the coins clang as they hit the tin begging bowls; a few per stair and the poor may eat that day. |
